Edwards, considered one of the leading filmmakers of U.S. comedy, made history with films like Breakfast at Tiffany , Victor / Victoria , Days of Wine and Roses and the saga The Pink Panther, starring Peter Sellers remembered.
was married for 41 years with British actress Julie Andrews , star of "Mary Poppins" and "The Sound of Music" and in 2004 was awarded an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement.
Variety Edwards ranked master modern comedy while The Washington Post newspaper said it was a comedy genius, an internationally recognized value.
in 1963 in connection with the shooting of The Pink Panther, Blake Edwards, turned to animation to illustrate the title and opening and closing credits of the film, so he commissioned the renowned animator Friz Freleng, creator of such characters as Bugs Bunny and Speedy Gonzales, which would create a cartoon and asked only three things: it was funny, dumb and pink. It is recalled that in the film, the Pink Panther was a diamond of great value and, by extension, so called white-collar thief who had managed to escape.
